What is a Truck Mounted Boom Lift?
A truck mounted boom lift provides a highly flexible solution for working at height and in most cases the smaller style sits on a 3.5 tonne truck, which can be self-driven on a car license.
The bigger size of truck tends to come with a qualified driver and operator- but if you have the training to use the boom lift then this can be requested without the operator present.
Where can these be used?
These machines can be used in a wide variety of situations including:
- Street work
- Working within a high street
- Pest control
Truck mounted boom lifts are great for those one-day jobs where the machine must be removed from site the same day.
If you have a standard vehicle licence, these are even more handy as you can get a few smaller jobs done all in one day with the same machine.
Larger trucks which are 30 metres plus need to be driven by an experienced and qualified driver – but these machines can be taken from site the same day.
The benefits of a truck mounted boom lift are:
- Larger lifting capacity
- Larger basket
- Outriggers on side of machine with pads- spread the weight of machine over a larger area
- Greater outreach
- Being able to work underneath bridges (certain styles)
Certain machines can access the undersides of bridges. This isn’t available on all truck mounts, but if this is needed, then make sure you let your hire company know. There is little set up required so you can get to the job and get to work straight away.
There is a wide range of makes and models, with working heights starting around 15 metres up to around 102 metres, with extensive outreach.
